Medication Technician REPORTS TO:

POSITION SUMMARY Provides medication assistance and personal care to the residents of the community, following the guidelines provided by Park Avenue Lifestyle.
This position reports to the Health and Wellness Director and may be required to supervise other staff positions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
oSupports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting the company culture and vision.
oParticipate in incoming/outgoing shift report.
oComplete documentation per Park Avenue standards to ensure that all care services are provided and that resident needs are met.
oSupervises Resident Assistants on assignment in the nursing department while on shift.
oParticipate in narcotic count at shift change, ensuring accurate documentation of inventory count.
oCompletes administration of medication as directed ensuring compliance with Rights of Medication Administration.
oParticipates in weekly medication cart audits, as assigned.
oAssists in re-ordering of medication.
oSupervises and maintains cleanliness of medication room.
oEnsures that all new medication orders are faxed to the pharmacy to obtain medication in an accurate and timely manner.
oInforms families when mail order medicines need to be reordered.
oFollows Physician Order Protocol to ensure proper processing of orders.
oDocument and report to Health and Wellness Director any resident change of condition/status per policy.
oAssists in completing chart audits and thinning per policy.
oAssists with documenting incident reports correctly and timely.
Assists Health and Wellness Director in creating and maintaining of resident charts/care files.
oParticipates in community Wellness Programs as assigned.
oObtains and records residents' vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration), weight, as directed.
oObserves resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
oSchedules doctor's appointments based on the needs of the resident.
oAssures call lights are answered in a timely manner to attend to the residents needs as soon as possible after the call light is signaled.
oAttends training courses at community and maintains up to date monthly, quarterly, annual training through LMS system- learning management system.
oAssures all caregiver duties are performed as assigned and documented appropriately.
oAddresses associate, family, and resident concerns to promote satisfaction and good ocommunication.
oIs fully knowledgeable of the fire evacuation and disaster policy of the community and participates as assigned in fire and disaster drills.
oMaintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal and health information concerning residents and staff.
oDemonstrates an understanding of compliance and ethics program policies and procedures.
oCompletes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as orequired.
oOther duties as assigned, and which relate to the success of the community and the care,comfort, and happiness of our residents.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
oHigh School Diploma/GED or 1-2 years of relevant experience.
oBe at least 18 years of age.
oAbility to communicate clearly and effectively.
oMedication Administration training/certification per state requirements.
oMust meet all health requirements.
oExperienced Caregiver of Certified Nursing assistant certification per state requirements oCPR certification.
oMust have strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read and write.
